Q: I currently operate my valet parking program in-house.  What are the incentives to working with an independent valet parking management company?

A:  First and foremost, an independent valet parking management firm will have an insurance policy that protects you AGAINST claims if a car should be damaged on your property.  The valet parking management firm will manage all claims thereby protecting you from possible legal action.  A reputable valet parking firm will have a claims management department as well as a dedicated claims manager that will address any incidents in a professional manner.

Another benefit is ensuring that your valet operation is always staffed.  A good valet parking vendor will be able to supply staff from other locations if needed.  In addition, the valet parking vendor should supply important items such as professional uniforms, on the job training, valet tickets/supplies, signage, and marketing.  You should consider all of these factors when deciding to partner with an independent valet parking management company.

Q: I own a restaurant situated in an area with parking meters.  My patrons often get parking tickets for forgetting to feed the meters.  They then get upset with my staff.  Obviously I have no control over this.   I feel like the parking meters are taking away from my business and discourage patrons from coming back to my restaurant.  How can I tell if offering valet parking will help me and how can I afford it?

A: Any business that is facing a difficult parking situation such as this should consider valet parking.  A valet parking partner will oversee all aspects of set-up including: getting permits from the city in which you are located, producing valet parking signage, and designating a nearby garage or lot for storage of your patrons' vehicles.  A valet parking partner will help you determine a staffing schedule to meet the demands of your business and your budget.  They will help you determine how much to charge your patrons for the valet service based on research from neighboring restaurants that are already offering valet parking.  Lastly, a good valet parking partner will help you design a marketing program to advertise your valet service.  In conclusion, a successful valet parking program will help you provide a positive experience to your patrons and increase your revenue by creating repeat business.  The key is to partner with a valet parking provider that will listen to your concerns and work with you to design a program that works for your business!
